How to Get a Job With the Best Firm Possible

Have you ever thought of moving to another firm? Ever dreamed of getting a position at the company you’ve always wanted to work in? You have been probably enticed with the high salary offered or the competitive benefits and other perks that comes along with the dream job.

The best firms tender wonderful compensation packages and other first-rate incentives to get and keep exceptional talent. For individuals, working in these firms gives them a promising outlook for their careers. With employment in these organizations, there is the prospect of traveling abroad, outstanding remunerations, generous allowances, and many more perks. It’s no wonder why many people would want to join these organizations.

Google and Facebook are two of the most desirable organizations to work for today. These two Internet corporate giants offer the best compensation packages and the most amazing perks and incentives. What’s more, the word is that it is also fun to work in these companies. With the many benefits and perks, one might begin to wonder; how difficult can it be to land a job at one of these firms?

William Poundstone is the author of the book entitled “Are You Smart Enough to Work at Google?” He spoke about the very challenging, mind-breaking questions posed to job interviewees. One of the questions was “What number comes next in this sequence: 10, 9, 60, 90, 70, 66 . . . ?”

When a question of this nature is thrown at you at a job interview, how would you react? Normally one would focus on the underlying pattern of the sequence. Some would get the trick, but others don’t. These are questions that no school textbook can help.
Facebook, on the other hand, has a simple policy when it relates to hiring their people. Mark Zuckerberg, the social media giant’s CEO, revealed his only rule, "I will only hire someone to work directly for me if I would work for that person.”

"It's a pretty good test and I think this rule has served me well,” the Facebook boss added. “"Facebook is not a company for everyone in the world.” It’s quite simple but harsh, isn’t it?
It doesn’t matter if you’ve filed an employment application to Google or sent a cover letter to Facebook; if you plan to get a job with the best company, you need to get a leg up on the competition.

The company’s first impression of you starts with the written communication you have submitted to them. Thus, it is very important to put together a compelling resume that will help you stand above the competition. Put in some effort to keep your resume from looking unoriginal, clichéd, and boring.

Giving the right answers at job interviews isn’t the only key to landing your dream job at a premier organization. Most of the time, prospective employers are more interested in how you process that question and arrive with an answer. It is the thought process that counts.

As Mark Zuckerberg has stated, "Don’t discount yourself, no matter what you’re doing. Everyone has a unique perspective that they can bring to the world." Believe that you are a precious commodity and a valuable asset to the company, and demonstrate that with your words and actions.
